Steve 'Shooter ' Brooks
November 29 1947 - October 28 2012

Shooter was the kind of guy most people loved and a few not so much,
but he still made a difference in your life.

Shooter was a man who was a true American hero, he served his country as a proud Marine in Vietnam, and was Honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent. Shooter earned the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 stars, The National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, The Combat Action Ribbon, The Good Conduct Medal, The Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, and the RVN Cross of Gallantry with Palm.

After returning from duty in Vietnam, Shooter attended and graduated from Texas Tech with a Masters in Theology. He worked at the Texas Workforce Commission, helping Veterans find a job, and any other thing they needed.

Shooter continued to serve our Country and his fellow vets by holding most if not every position of leadership at the George S. Berry, American Legion Post 575, Department of Texas. In addition to being past Post Commander, he was also a past 19th Division Commander, and a past 4th Division Commander.

Shooter was the vision behind the organization of the American Legion Riders of Post 575. After several attempts at rounding up enough American Legion members with motorcycles to start a charter, the group was up and running. While Shooter was President, we raised thousands of dollars for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund.

RIP Shooter - you will be missed.
